Hello friends! Happy Sunday. I’m conducting a super small focus group for regular readers of this newsletter! If that’s you and you’d be open to answering two questions, reply to this email!
10 Things I’m Celebrating This Week
This week I wrote about vacation FOMO and how I’m approaching planning trips differently (to BE content, not MAKE content)
In defense of the fly-and-flop
·There are two types of travelers. The Type A person who needs a minute-by-minute, peer-reviewed itinerary for their vacation and those who want to walk down the street and eat at the first restaurant they see. Then, they marry each other. This is precisely the case of me and my husband, Gustavo. He loves to go to places that he loves, whereas the idea o…
On the apartment reno update, our bedroom floors are finally done and we moved our bed out of the living room into the bedroom and I’m telling you I had the best night of sleep I’ve had in weeks!!!! I also chose sconces which only took me two months.
The V&A chose 4 Taylor Swift superfans to help curate an exhibition
Just finished reading Wives Like Us by Plum Sykes. If you want to join the book club (will be IRL in Edinburgh and virtual for anyone else in the world!) reply to this email and I will find a date that works for all of us.
Friend of the newsletter, ætla, a beautiful jewelry store in Stockbridge is hosting an exhibition during Fringe titled “A Celebration of Scottish Jewellery”. Details here!

If you are generally interested in wedding culture (which I’m fascinated by!!) two very interesting reports out from Zola and Pickle… two of the most interesting stats below.
“89% of couples are beginning the wedding planning process before formally getting engaged, and of these, 17% took, what is in our professional opinion, a very concrete step in their journey before any question was popped.” Zola
“Wedding guests spend over $600 on average per wedding (a quarter is for wedding day attire)” Pickle
On the wedding beat, I’m working on an essay exploring the rise of public commentary on other people’s weddings. Reading
’s essay on the topic (linked) had me saying YES! as I read. She has so many good points. The Biarritz hotspot Villa Magnan that I was so lucky to stay at a few years ago launched this lovely pink and white striped bedding that I love dearly.
I’ve been exploring the wealth of talented writers on Subsatck and came across the newsletter
. Colleen’s interview with one of my favorite authors, Stephanie Danler, was a great read. My favorite quote below.
I say this often, and Stephanie echoed: regret is useless. All of our experiences create the story and get us to where we are; changing the past is impossible, but choosing differently in the future is. The big takeaway? You never know where life will take you; be grateful for the moment you are in.
With love,
Sarah
