HELLO!!! The funny thing about working for yourself is that sometimes you don’t leave enough time to work for yourself, which is why this newsletter hasn’t gone out in two weeks. Regardless, I am BACK! So many great things to celebrate over the past days. NYC friends, I will be back Oct 18-Nov 4 and I hope to see you!
10 Things I’m Celebrating This Week:
There is nothing more surreal than seeing my byline in print!!! I picked up this weekend’s Financial Times and saw the article I wrote about Mafalda Muñoz and Gonzalo Machado, the husband-and-wife design duo behind the newest design gallery in Justicia. I went to Madrid in August to write the profile and it was just so special.
I also wrote about the fashionification of interior design for Fast Company, digging into the collaborations between Kith x Frank Lloyd Wright, ASICS x HAY, Comme Si x USM (thank you
for the shout!), and Flora Soames x Carrier Company, among others. Thank you for your expert commentary on Salone in Milan and how design fairs globally have brought in the fashion crowd.I’ve launched a content and communications agency called About Town spanning personal branding, newsletter strategy, and partnerships! If you want to talk about working together, you can email me at sarah@abouttown.co. I’m already working with four (!!!) amazing clients and I feel so grateful to be so supported in the leap.
One of my clients, NuMarket (community crowdfunding for food & bev businesses) launched their newsletter and I’m SO proud of how it turned out!!!
My friend Rosie Conroy wrote about cabin kitchens for House & Garden and I enjoyed it so much.
This week I was invited to stay at Newhall Mains, a stunning farm-turned-boutique-hotel on the Black Isle in Scotland with a private airfield, and it was a dream. Dolphin watching in the morning followed by an afternoon hike and sunset flight.
The incredibly talented writer Banjo Beale and photographer Alex Baxter’s new book delving into the unique design DNA of Scottish interiors titled A Place in Scotland was published on October 3rd! I cannot wait for my copy to arrive!
AND, Alex wrote an amazing itinerary for Yolo Journal for a roadtrip through Scotland.
My friend Farah illustrated this beautiful tablecloth for a birthday and I’m obsessed!!!
On Oct 16th, I’m hosting an IRL Edinburgh book club for Wives Like Us by Plum Sykes (she discusses the viral Vogue clip that’s circulating in this interview and hints that she’s going to start a Substack in this interview!!) Reply to confirm if you can come!!!
With gratitude,
Sarah
I always LOVE reading your wins :) I feel like I am watching a rising star work hard to put one Jenga block after another in creating her own Babylon. I haven't had any input or influence on your journey but here on the sidelines I feel really proud of you Sarah. Keep inspiring women like me
Congrats on the big moves!!
