If you’re looking for a compact camera with autofocus, have a look at the Pentax PC35 AF! Super easy to use, not hugely expensive (I got mine for £40 on eBay), it has a built in flash and it’s small and light so really easy to carry around. I bought mine when everyone on Instagram seemed to be buying the Olympus mju II and it was recommended on a few film photography blogs as a great alternative. Otherwise, for the full manual experience I love my Olympus OM1n ☺️

For an easy film camera, definitely recommend the Olympus Trip 35 - vintage and simple to use as it’s just a point and shoot - you don’t need to do anything other than twist the lens to the right focus setting depending on how far away your subject is and then click the shutter button. Also doesn’t need batteries - it runs on light. Perhaps a potential downside in that you can’t use it in low light. If you have to shoot in low light, I recommend the Olympus OM10. 😊
