First, AHHHHHHHHH!!!
Okay, continuing on. For this week’s ten things I’m celebrating, there is one obvious standout which is that I accomplished my big audacious goal for last year!!!
I was so delighted to write for The New York Times about the trend of extra-long cakes AND I got to weave in some art history, referencing my own wee knowledge of Salvador Dali’s cookbook and talking to the Head of the Department of Art History at Oxford who knew A TON about sugar sculptures at European elite weddings in the 16th century and beyond. The article is online and in print today in the Styles Section.
You can read it here: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/06/style/wedding-sheet-cakes-table-long.html
And it’s SUPER helpful if you share my post on social media!! Linked below:
10 Things I’m Celebrating This Week:
My grandma sent my uncle to Barnes & Noble to get three copies of the NYT <3
I made this amazing Ottolenghi soup last night which was the perfect thing for this cold I just can’t seem to beat.
Absolutely obsessed with the Everyman Cinema in Edinburgh (those comfy sofas are wonderful and I feel like it’s a fair compromise to go to the cinema for G who LOVES movies and I, who banned TVs from our flat). We just joined the annual Everyman membership lol. Last week we saw Ferrari and today we are going to see One Life.
Super excited to meet Ella Mills from Deliciously Ella at a breakfast at Gleneagles Townhouse at the end of the month!
I started using retinol and I have to tell you that I am really truly obsessed with what is happening over here.
Catching up with friends on the phone is the best!!!!!!
I hosted three new friends over for a vision board-making session and I’m so excited for what I’m calling into the next year (some hints: NYC, Vogue, wedding, home-buying, event-hosting, book-writing & more!)
I started subscribing to
’s paid newsletter Link in Bio and if you work even tangentially related to social media, it is a GAMECHANGER.Going down the rabbit hole on small weddings, I’m curious about people who had weddings that cost less than $10,000. If this is you or someone you know, PLEASE REACH OUT!
I am still actively manifesting my party in a Scottish castle. If you want to collab, reply to meeeee!!
What is on your vision board this year?!!?
All my love,
Sarah
To rent the reception place.
My friend got married in 2019 and their wedding was definitely under $10000. Their reception was a potluck and the photographer was a close friend. They got married at a church and the reception was nearby. They got married 5 weeks after their engagement. No she wasn’t pregnant. I honestly think it was $500
