10 Things I’m Celebrating This Week:
My brilliant friend Lindsay (Studio Jones), who is a wonderful florist and event planner extraordinaire, visited me in Edinburgh and we had an INCREDIBLE week filled with interior design, boutique hotels, floral arrangement classes, BIG TALK, some wedding planning (eeeek!!!), and my first-ever trips to the Highlands and the Cotswolds.
We also saw Dolly Alderton speak about her newest novel, Good Material, which I read from cover to cover on my flight to Michigan.
We went to the Festival of Fashion in Braemar at the Fife Arms (a Hauser & Wirth hotel) and it was UNREAL. I had to pinch myself as I sat in a packed room listening to the history of Chanel in Scotland, surrounded by the most glamorous, tartan-clad folks I’ve ever seen! My friend Chloe took these beautiful photos of the event (and drove us on the mountain roads!!) so she gets two gold stars.
Lindsay and I hosted an Apres Ski x Ralph Lauren lodge-themed floral arranging workshop (yes that was the title of the moodboard) and decorated my flat strictly with thrifted items. The result was GORGEOUS, if I do say so myself. I can’t stop gushing about Lindsay’s floral/styling/event planning skills, because they truly stun me. I mean, just look at these photos!!
We had a wee Substackers in Scotland meet-up, organized by
, , and and it was amazing. I am amazed that the writers on Substack span geographies, ages, and topics. You had writers writing personal essays about girlhood (me) sitting next to newsroom career journalists who write 10,000 word deep-dives on policy. It would be remiss to not mention the Lisa Corti x La Veste collab which is two of my favorite brands!!!
Speaking of brand collabs (of which I am a sucker for) G gave me a beautiful navy Barbour x Ganni coat as an early Christmas present and I will never get over it.
I have noticed Tory Burch coming back on the scene (along with Vera Bradley, ballet flats, and tiny cardigans from my pre-teens) and I enjoyed this article that explained why.

One bonus win—If you need a beautiful/sad/happy song to listen to while pensively staring out the window as you head back to your Midwestern hometown like the main character of a holiday Hallmark movie, can I suggest Angie McMahon?
