free time
this week is my favorite of the year
The week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve is my favorite time of year.
Expectations of productivity are at zero, with a break from work (hopefully) and the stress of the holidays now passed.
Floating through this no man’s land of unclaimed time, I savor the opportunity to reflect on all that has happened this year.
I moved to Spain, fell in love, and started eating again. I published for the first time, in The Cut and in Refinery29. I celebrated my 1-year sober anniversary and wrote this newsletter 60 times.
If you’re looking for something to read this week, these were the 5 most-read essays this year:
I’d love to know what resonated with you and what you’d like to read more of in the coming year. Let me know in the comments.
Wishing you ease-filled and restful days,
Sarah

Sarah, as a behavior analyst I really enjoyed your first posting choosing the life you want. You hit the nail in the head. Change your environment to a healthier environment and behavior changes for the better. I truly enjoy your writing and the joy this is apparent in your new life with many prosocial behavior. You might want to see our Substack - Prosocial Behavior - Weaving the Culture. The drivers of one's behavior are to be found in the environment/culture that surrounds us. I admire your energy and determination. Keep it up, you are doing a lot of good through your writing and behavioral examples. Best to you, Francisco Perez.
I am 10 years single after a long, complicated, disastrous marriage. I’m finally moving on with my new life & all these articles spoke to me about what I’m trying to do too & are helpful & appreciated.
